Description
This presentation describes a unique and innovative approach to the application of EAP concepts to address college binge drinking through a federally-funded research grant. Using this approach, the northeastern University Assistance Program, adapts well-established EAP technologies to provide prevention, identification and treatment for student binge drinking and related alcohol problems with the dual goals of reducing the adverse health effects of student problem drinking and reducing property damage and related security costs to the university and its surrounding community. The presentation will include literature review on college binge drinking on higher education campuses.

Objectives:
• describe prevalence of binge drinking at colleges and universities, as well as the high human costs and organizational risks of such behavior.
• apply eAP technology and approach to this same problem in colleges or universities within their own communities and thus expand their services.
• educate employees on binge drinking. they are the parents of college students and are often unaware of the extent of the problems.
