Description
Approved for 1 PDH in Domain III

Dysthymia is more prevalent than either major depression or bi-polar disorder among those treated for addiction. However, it is under diagnosed and under treated. When overlooked, addicts with dysthymia can spend up to four times longer in residential treatment than those without the disorder, experience multiple treatment episodes, suicide attempts, and a perceived lack of spiritual growth and low quality of life. This session will explore data collected using the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI IIII) and recommendations for assessing and effectively treating dysthymia while addressing relapse prevention and long term recovery.
