Description
The concept of "Building a Culture of Health" is a new and significant landmark in the global business landscape. It is seen as the key to attracting and retaining talent, lowering health care costs, reducing safety risks and enhancing competitive performance. Thus far, conceptualization of a culture of health often overlooks the psychological and relational components fundamental to initiating and stabilizing positive health changes. This omission opens the door to multiple opportunities for EA expertise to contribute to workplace cultures of health. This presentation will describe how the workplace psychological expertise of EA professionals can help employers rise to new heights as they meet the challenges of creating a healthy workplace. Specifically the presentation will address the diverse and vastly complicated health issues in U.S. and other countries; the impact of demographics on workplace health; psychological health issues that impact safe operations; and workplace environmental stress as a measurable factor contributing to healthy or unhealthy workplaces. Going forward, EAPs can and should take their rightful place as partners with other health and human resource professionals in building cultures of health that contribute to business success, safe operations, and employee satisfaction.

1) Partner with HR to enhance organizational health;
2) Discuss the role EAPs play in supporting organizational health initiatives.
