Description
We will present the main findings from the Young Adults in the Workplace (YIW) substance abuse prevention initiative. Prevention for young adults is important because 16-24 is a formative age for substance use onset and abuse, and most in this age group (~70%) are employed. The YIW cross-site evaluation has documented efforts related to adapting six prevention programs for young adult and specific workplace settings that provides valuable information to researchers and practitioners. We will also present findings about the effects of intervention program components on substance use, psychological, and workplace-related outcomes.
1) Discuss critical aspects of adapting substance abuse prevention programs to young adults in the workplace setting.
2) Interpret (or create) a logic model linking the process, outcome, and economic components of an evaluation.
3) Discuss behavioral outcomes affected by these interventions.
