Description
Understanding and Facilitating the Families Transition from the NICU to Home

A study was developed during times of change across the UK where new neonatal outreach care initiatives were being introduced. The study aim was to elicit concerns and experiences of families during transition to NICU/home. Parents discerned what affected them and their ability to parent a premature baby. Practitioners must harness this for the future care of the family and their baby.

Creating Partnerships with Parents in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit

Creating partnerships in the NICU is essential and requires change in the “visitation” policy to welcome parents as valuable partners in their infant’s care planning and care giving. Participation in nurse report and the implementation of hourly rounding are essential.
