Physicians, nurses, patients, and families must have effective communication in order to achieve the goals of ensuring patient safety and improving outcomes. Patient- and familycentered care offers the framework and strategies to enhance the quality and safety of health care.

During this interactive session, participants will hear from a parent-professional team about the timeline, activities and program design for implementing patient- and familycentered care at MemorialCare Medical Centers, a five hospital system in Southern California.
