Description
The Somali Doula Program: Using a Community-Based Model for Development of Culturally Competent, Family-Centered Care at a Major Academic Medical Center

A community development model was used to build a program of birthing support for Somali refugee women at a large hospital. Somali women worked with nursing staff and others to develop a care model that met their unique cultural needs.

Understanding the Connection of PFCC Core Values and CLAS Standards

This presentation describes how the CLAS standards provide the framework for addressing communication with patients with limited English proficiency (LEP) and, therefore, are directly related to core content of patient- and family-centered care.
