South Shore Hospital has incorporated patient- and familycentered care into a hospital-wide culture change to service excellence. This presentation will describe the steps they took to move from exclusion to inclusion related to families as visitors.
Family Member Involvement in the Operating Room During the Anaesthetic Induction of an Adult Patient with Downs Syndrome or Developmental Delay
The benefits of having a family member present to provide support to an adult surgical patient with Downs Syndrome or developmental delay during the induction process, including the measures of success, role of staff and family, and results from surveys, will be discussed.
