A comparison study of intensive care units suggests that patient- and family-centered care (PFCC) has a positive effect on performance measures and patient and family satisfaction and that in units where PFCC is universal, patients experience less complications and safety issues.

This presentation will discuss the strategies, successes, and lessons learned in garnering and maintaining support and
momentum to advance a patient- and family-centered culture in an academic medical center and across a sevenhospital health care system.
