Description
Best-selling author Jean-Marc Hachey (The BIG Guide to Living and Working Overseas) will outline for college career counsellors the best practices and functions of an international internship and how these are different from a domestic internship. With the emerging global economy, international credentials are becoming increasingly important to young professionals. The international internship experience is the most important experience in a hierarchy of experiences when building an international career. In this session, career counsellors will: 1) discover how international employers (most often US-based international employers) measure the success of an international internship and how to sell the internship experience in student resumes and during interviews; 2) help students to find an international internship with a targeted job search and by building relationships between the career office and international employers; 3) be able to advise on student survival skills during their first international internship while job hunting and networking abroad. Each of the themes presented in this seminar will have a 'Quick Reference Card' handout.
