Description
In their 2005 statement Renewing Our Commitment, the U.S. Catholic bishops implored the entire Catholic community to support the work of its schools. Catholic schools face unprecedented challenges and thus require increased resources to deliver an effective whole-child education. Assisting children’s mental health needs is one aspect of whole-child education that can be supplemented through a wider ecclesial effort. A researcher from Boston College will present a national sample of collaborative programs involving Catholic schools, Catholic Charities, Catholic hospitals, universities and community agencies that deliver school-based prevention and intervention services to children. The presentation will examine the types of services delivered, funding sources, governance structures, evaluation practices, and suggestions for school administrators who are considering implementing systemic collaborative programs.
