OBA Conference Centre, 20 Toronto Street, 2nd Floor, Toronto
Description
Ombudsman as an ideal holds the promise of justice in administrative action. Since their beginnings in 1967 in Canada, ombudsman mechanisms and practices have grown tremendously.
This session explores the nature of three ombuds forms in Ontario which are representative of three different sectors of activity – municipalities, workers compensation and universities. Join us in a discussion of the work of these Ombuds, their powers and methods, their interaction with the legal community, emerging problems in their work, and their vision of ombudsmanship.
