Managing clients’ expectations in family matters can be difficult at the best of times and the management of their expectations in the challenging area of spousal support is even more difficult. This program will address the most current issues and cases in this complex area of family law, including review orders after Leskun and Fisher; limited term spousal support orders; lump sum spousal support orders; compensatory versus non-compensatory spousal support; spousal support variation; gender bias in spousal support awards; and spousal support releases in marriage contracts and separation agreements.

The day will conclude with a panel discussion on the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines – uses and limitations, and on the preparation and presentation of your spousal support case in negotiation, mediation and before the courts.
