Description
In 2005, the U.S. economy was rocked because of a "one in 100" scenario in the hurricane belt. Dennis, Emily, Katrina, Rita and Wilma are not names of the next American Idol competitors, but rather 5 of the season's record 15 hurricanes that caused over $128 Billion in damages and over 2,280 deaths. But was this truly a one in 100 scenario? And what has been the response to this by risk management professionals and the financial markets?

During this luncheon presentation, our speaker will talk about some of the research and risk analysis techniques that have been evolving to predict and mitigate hurricane losses. More importantly, we will learn of new financial instruments developed specifically for corporate risk management strategies for hurricane prone areas, in order to protect against future financial disasters caused by one of nature's most powerful events.
