Description
Self-Insured employer plan sponsors face a risk of unpredictable medical and prescription drug claims costs. How does the variation in aggregate group costs compare to predicted budgets? In addition, there is the risk of large claims for individuals due to catastrophic events. What level of risk should a plan sponsor assume and how much reinsurance (stop loss coverage) should they purchase? In this session, speakers will explore a statistical tool that has been developed for plan sponsors which addresses these questions. They will demonstrate real-world sample cases, the applications of the analysis and appropriate conclusions. In addition, they will address self-insured plans, risk mitigation efforts for the life /disability carrier.

Through this session, you will learn some of the tools and viewpoints that can assist you in limiting the risk to your organization caused by the changing risk of employee benefit programs. A variety of benefit programs will be discussed, presenting current practices in mitigating and reviewing the risks present.
