Wake Forest University has recently completed a project that has significantly enhanced the reporting capabilities for consumers of financial information throughout the campus. The Finance Division collaborated with a group of departmental financial representatives to survey and asses the campus' financial reporting needs. Using the ODS and a custom designed and developed financial data warehouse, a set of seven summary and five detail reports were developed in Cognos 8.4. The presentation will cover the steps that Wake Forest took to build the financial data warehouse, what it contains and how it works, how the campus financial representatives provided input and feedback, examples of the reports that are now easily generated, and the lessons learned from our experience. This session is intended for any school that has a need to deliver transparent financial reporting to their campus community-at-large, in a relatively short period of time.
