SUNY Downstate(DMC) has invested much into SSB for online web admissions. This investment has yielded numerous enhancements in the areas of online application, processing and delivery of applications, and an admissions checklist.

Through the online application, DMC has added three different web forms allowing the applicant to data enter: work experience; prerequisite course information; a quick-glance page that summarizes the application information.

In processing and delivery, a great deal of automation was achieved. Once an application has been pushed at night, it is exported into PDF and automatically archived/indexed into XtenderSolutions. The security in XtenderSolutions is setup such that only the right committee member has access to the right application. In addition, a personalized email is sent to the applicant along with a copy of the application, signature page, login id and unique password for access to the Admissions checklist.

The admissions checklist was developed outside of Banner, and it is used to communicate with applicants the status of the application. Because DMC is an academic medical center, the admissions checklist is very complex: there are many requirements that must be done after acceptance; health-related items (ie. vaccinations) are critical.
