Student information hides behind the wall of FERPA. Despite the fact that the majority of students wish to share their information (bills, schedules, financial aid, etc) with family members, the process for doing so has been troublesome for the students, family members, as well as Plymouth State University staff. In October, Plymouth opened its doors to family members, giving them easy access to the information they had been longing for for quite some time. This session will discuss the process, pitfalls, and successes in PSU's approach to identifying and engaging family members within our Portal; providing students control over what their family members can and cannot see and how we use the family data once it has been gathered.
