Determining the state of each workflow can be challenging, when a complex workflow, a workflow with many components, is instantiated many times. We created an audit system that allows us to determine when a workflow is started, its status, and how far from its completion it is. The audit data can be reviewed using any reporting tool that can query Banner tables. This audit system is fully integrated in workflow and completely controlled by the modeler. We found many benefits in auditing workflows: we are able to determine process bottle necks, performance, and inefficiencies.
