Description
The five Alamo Colleges went live with Banner for registration in Fall of 2010. The project involved moving the schools from five separate PLUS databases into one Banner database. This presented many challenges.
One desire was to incorporate a curriculum coordination process with registration controls to build, implement, and actually enforce identified pre-requisites. When registration began, the system worked as designed. This was not always a good thing -- the theoretical and the practical proved be at odds with one another. Learn how faculty from five separately accredited colleges worked to identify pre-requisites for every course in the inventory, how pre-requisite checking was accomplished through a combination of form-based pre-requisites and CAPP, and how we dealt with the unintended consequences of implementing and enforcing both basic skills requirements and course pre-requisites.
