This presentation outlines Victoria University of New Zealand's approach to collaborating with SunGard Technical services in Australia, India and the USA to Upgrade our Banner system from 7.5 to 8.3 We used a follow the sun approach which enabled us to drastically reduce the outage to our users. Special attention is also paid to the process we employed to identify and quantify the impact the upgrade would have on our own customizations. This method employed third party search and comparison tools, a dedicated Database schema and ultimately yielded a comprehensive list of all impacted modifications. This presentation will aim to supply a toolkit of processes and tools to prepare you for a Banner upgrade.
