Barbara Fowble,

Before moving to California, Dr. Barbara Fowble was the Clinical Director of the Radiation Oncology Department, Associate Director of the Breast Evaluation Center and a Senior Member of the division of medical science at Fox Chase cancer Center (an NCI designated comprehensive cancer center) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is internationally recognized for her expertise in radiation and breast cancer. Dedicated to the treatment of breast cancer patients, Dr. Fowble has treated thousands of women with radiation for breast cancer. Her research studies have defined the roles of breast conservation therapy as an alternative to mastectomy, post-mastectomy radiation and the integration of radiation and chemotherapy. She is the author of more than 125 scientific publications and was the primary editor of a textbook on breast cancer treatment. She has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, and Physics. She was a guest editor for Breast Diseases: A Yearbook Quarterly and associate editor for the Breast Journal. She gave the annual ASTRO refresher course for breast cancer for 15 years. She joined the faculty at UCSF in 2006 where she has an active clinical practice and commitment to teaching residents. She is the recipient of the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology Teacher of the Year Award 2006-7.
