Jan S. Lewin, Ph.D. is Associate Professor and Director of the Speech Pathology and Audiology Section in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery and Director of the Voice Laboratory at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Lewin received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Michigan and her Ph.D. from Michigan State University. She is a recognized expert in the rehabilitation of patients following total laryngectomy with specific interest in tracheoesophageal voice restoration, and has lectured extensively on the subject. Her research has encompassed the area of functional restoration of speech and swallowing in patients with head and neck cancer.
Erich Sturgis, M.D., M.P.H., M.D. Anderson Cancer Center
Dr. Sturgis graduation with a degree in biochemistry from Louisiana State University in 1985 and recevied his MD from Georgetown University in 1990. He then went on to compolete his MPH at the University of Texas Health Science Center. His c.inical interests are: Young patients (<40 years of age) with head and neck cancer, Nonsmokers with head and neck cancer, Sarcomas of the head and neck region. His research interests are Phenotypic and genotypic markers of genetic susceptibility, Epidemiology of head and neck cancer, Genetic Susceptibility to thyroid and salivary gland malignancies. He currently serves as Associate Professor, Tenure, Department of Head and Neck Surgery, Division of Surgery, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, TX.
