Will review evolving concepts related to treatment planning for external beam treatment of localized prostate cancer, including volumes, techniques, and evidence supporting a dosimetric relationship with clinical outcomes. Techniques in treating the prostate gland, prostate bed, and lymph node targets will be addressed. At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be able to do the following: 1. Explain the radiographic anatomy of the tumor, prostate, and pelvis. 2. Discuss common treatment planning practices among genitourinary specialists in the context of evolving techniques and image-guidance. 3.Discuss the outcomes of clinical trials relevant to IMRT treatment planning.
