Description
Recent clinical trials on Hodgkin lymphoma have yielded conflicting results on the role of radiation therapy for Hodgkin lymphoma and have generated much controversy. It is important that radiation oncologists have a firm understanding of strengths and limitations of these studies. In this session, we will critically examine the available data and provide updates on ongoing trials. In addition, we will discuss indications for radiation therapy in Hodgkin lymphoma, and review optimal fields and doses. Finally, new development in radiation planning and treatment techniques, including principles of involved-node or involved-site radiation therapy will emphasized. At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be able to do the following: 1. Evaluate and interpret results of recent clinical trials on Hodgkin lymphoma. 2. Identify Hodgkin lymphoma patients who are appropriate candidates for consolidative radiation therapy . 3. Describe the current recommendations on optimal radiation dose, fields and treatment techniques, including principles of involved-node or involved-site radiation therapy in Hodgkin lymphoma.
