Description
The Institute of Medicine first advocated the use of computer-based patient medical records in 1997. As part of health care reform, President Obama proposed to invest $10 billion a year during the next five years to promote the broad adoption of standards-based electronic health information systems, including electronic health records. Electronic health information provides incentives to different stakeholders to develop approaches to use this information to improve health outcomes through the management of patient care. There are different types of electronic health information, such as electronic medical records, disease registries, personal health records and administrative data. Actuaries are expert with the use of administrative data. The goal of this session is to introduce you to other forms of electronic health data and the intricacies of the use of such data.
