Jean Moran, Assistant Professor
, University of Michigan
Dr. Moran is Assistant Professor and Head of Clinical Physics at the Department of Radiation Oncology at Michigan. She received her PhD from the University of Michigan studying an improved electron pencil beam dose calculation algorithm for conformal and MLC-shaped electron beams. She has several years of hands-on experience with commissioning, designing QA tests, and performing IMRT QA at the University of Michigan. She is a co-author of a number of publications related to dosimetry for IMRT. Her primary areas of IMRT research relate to deliverability and quality assurance of IMRT treatment plans, optimization and use of IMRT for the treatment of breast cancer, and development of an amorphous silicon flat panel dosimetry system for IMRT dosimetry. She has given invited lectures on IMRT QA and related topics at meetings of the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists, American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and Radiological Society of North America. Dr. Moran is the author and co-author of two book chapters on IMRT quality assurance. She is also a mentor on IMRT QA and IMRT treatment planning in the University of Michigan physics residency program. Because of her experience with IMRT dosimetry, she is a member of the AAPM task group on Dosimetry Metrology for IMRT. She is also chair of the AAPM task group on Physics Practice Standards for Clinical Trials. She currently serves on the Board of the AAPM and is a member of the AAPM's Radiation Therapy Committee.
