Description
Treatment of advanced stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) extends beyond systemic therapy. The integration of radiotherapy and palliative care measures are essential components of the treatment plan that have been shown to enhance quality of life and extended survival for many patients. This session will provide an overview of the current benefit each of these modalities and how they can be integrated to optimize the overall care of patients with advanced lung cancer. At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be able to do the following: 1. Conclude the appropriate systemic therapy for a patient. 2. Define oligometastatic disease and be able to identify these patients who might be benefit from radiation therapy. 3. Recommend and incorporate early palliative care interventions into the care of patients with advanced lung cancer.
