Description
One of the on-going struggles infection preventionists are faced with is to improve healthcare workers' (HCW) compliance with basic infection prevention practices such as hand hygiene, appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and influenza vaccine acceptance. The presenter will review current science-based strategies to increase desired behaviors in HCWs. Some of the behavior strategies that will be reviewed include reliability science, social marketing, positive deviance and compliance technology.;Objectives: *Examine the behavioral barriers to compliance with hand hygiene, PPE use and annual influenza vaccination *Discuss current compliance sciences and applications in healthcare *List compliance improvement strategies which may be implemented in the healthcare setting
