The presenter will discuss one hospital's journey to achieving zero ventilator-associated pneumonias (VAP). Modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors along with nursing barriers to VAP prevention will be reviewed. Evidence-based practice, the exploration of innovative interventions as well as the differing perspectives of multiple stakeholders will be examined.;Objectives: • Cite the advantages of collaboration to defeat VAP • Evaluate evidence-based practice guidelines and other potential interventions to eliminate VAP • Identify team strategies to decrease incidence of VAP
