Well designed information infrastructures can facilitate infection prevention efforts. Mandatory reporting demands continue to stress information technology systems and the budgets for their design. This program aims to clarify informatics and its implications in infection prevention and to identify the tools necessary for evaluation and selection of an electronic surveillance system.;Objectives: • Describe informatics and its role in infection prevention and control • List at least three resources currently available for information processing, surveillance and reporting and their application
