In 2004, New Jersey established hospital licensure regulations which mandate a ratio of 1 ICP (now IP) for every 200 adjusted occupied beds. During this session we will discuss derivation of that calculation, its effect on hospitals' infection control programs and changes being proposed due to mandatory infection reporting regulations.;Objectives: • Describe the impact of IP staffing regulations in New Jersey • Discuss opportunities to influence regulations by partnering with state health departments to achieve common goals • List important factors to consider in setting IP staffing ratios
