Many institutions have initiatives focusing on first-year and senior-year experiences, but nothing (or little) for students in their second and third years. The University of Connecticut developed Explore, a four-semester, intensive career development program for these students as they choose a major or career path. The program takes students through the entire career development process, from making major/career decisions to networking and job searching to transitioning from student to professional. Through one-on-one personalized career coaching and group workshops, Explore helps students learn to make decisions and develop the skills necessary to obtain an internship by the end of their third year.
