Description
As middle and high schools institute RTI, poor student motivation is a central concern. This workshop presents four major strategies to increase motivation and school participation among struggling learners in secondary classrooms. Participants will learn to (a)target "levers of influence" in the instructional environment that can increase student work engagement, (b) identify and challenge
"faulty thinking" that can undermine student self-efficacy in academics, (c) empower students to become self-advocates with input into their own RTI plans, and (d) provide feasible teacher strategies to forge stronger relationships with marginal students. All motivation strategies presented are research-based and tied to the multitier RTI model.
