Description
Major depression during adolescence is a common and increasingly important public health problem. Research indicates that cognitive, social, biological, and environmental factors interact in placing youth at risk. In this workshop, an integrative cognitive-behavioral model of vulnerability will be presented.
Cognitive-behavioral strategies for working with these challenging youth will be discussed, and research on the effectiveness of these strategies will be reviewed. Particular attention will be given to strategies for treating suicidal, aggressive, impulsive, and oppositional youth.
