Doctors have confidence in knowledge they’ve learned from mentors, in courses or in perceptions based on experience. But many surgical beliefs don’t hold up to evidence-based scrutiny. After exploring why these myths still exist, several will be examined.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:1. Understand how misinformation can distort knowledge and affect surgical care
2. Identify nearly two dozen unproven surgical myths with little or no validity
3. Identify several areas in their practices that can be immediately improved
