A review of the many facets and potential pitfalls in the early initial management of odontogenic infections by general dentists will be presented, including details on rational antibiotic use, surgical intervention and how to manage specialty referrals
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:1. Identify which critical signs and symptoms require early, ongoing attention
2. Know which antibiotic is appropriate and when to consider a change of drug
3. Know when, how and where to refer patients who are severe or who are not responding
