Dr. Greer is currently administrator of the Dental Health Division of the Hawaii State Department of Health and also serves as a consultant to the Med-QUEST Division (Hawai`i Medicaid) of the Hawai`i State Department of Human Services. He is president-elect of AAPHD.

Dr. Jones is professor and chair of the Department of General Dentistry at Boston University. She earned her DDS in 1978 and her MPH, Nutrition in 1981 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her DScD in dental public health at Boston University in 2002.

Dr. Warren received his DDS in 1986 and his MS in dental public health in 1991, both from the University of Iowa. He is currently an associate professor and directs the College of Dentistry’s Dental Student Research Program. Dr. Warren is a diplomate of ABDPH.

Recent national survey data indicates that the prevalence of dental caries in preschoolers is increasing. Older adults are developing new carious lesions at an equally alarming rate. Fluoride can prevent decay; treatment decisons should focus on EVB practice.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:1. Discuss strategies for using topical fluorides to decrease decay
2. Explain how prevention strategies are underutilized
3. List resources that can assist in guiding preventive treatment strategies
