Dr. Crews is professor of dentistry and otolaryngology and director of oral oncology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center Cancer Institute. She has published and lectured extensively on the oral effects of tobacco use and the treatment of tobacco dependence.

Dr. Lingen is an associate professor of pathology at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Dr. Lingen's NIH-funded research focuses on the early detection and prevention of oral cancer.

Dr. Wong is professor and associate dean of research at UCLA School of Dentistry and director of the Dental Research Institute. His research focuses on oral cancer pathogenesis and salivary diagnostics. He is an AAAS fellow and currently vice president of AADR.

This course will emphasize the critical role of dental health care professionals in the detection and prevention of oral cancer and provide a review of oral cancer risk factors, as well as an understanding of required techniques for performing a complete exam.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:1. Prescribe FDA-approved medications as adjuncts for tobacco cessation
2. Utilize saliva diagnostic toolboxes: the proteome and transcriptome
3. Discuss current oral cancer chemoprevention initiatives
