Expand your understanding of the pharmacologic mechanisms of local anesthetics and some of the difficulties that may arise, including agent selection and dosage; interactions with medical conditions; paresthesia, hematoma and trismus; plus new, faster onset and reversal agents.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:1. Discuss the mechanisms and clinical importance of local anesthetic uptake and binding
2. Discuss advantages and potential disadvantages for use of vasoconstrictor agents
3. Discuss potential adverse reactions to local anesthetics: syncope, allergy, toxicity
