This course will address trends in caries epidemiology, describe new detection technologies, and discuss minimally invasive approaches to managing dental caries. With earlier detection, it is possible to redirect management from a restorative approach to a preventive approach.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:1. Recognize trends in caries epidemiology and implement caries assessment tools
2. Compare sensitivity, specificity and reliability of caries detection techniques
3. Use remineralizing agents to arrest or reverse the demineralization process
