Dr. Gibson received her DDS degree from LSU, New Orleans, LA. Postgraduate training included a GPR, Geriatric Dental Fellowship and masters in Public Health and residency. Her research and teaching focus on geriatric dentistry, saliva and oral health issues in the homeless.

Through the presentation of clinical cases, we will look at dental issues more common in older patients. These include oral issues related to medications, stroke, depression and other systemic diseases. Strategies regarding xerostomia, root caries and tooth loss are also covered.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:1. Identify both clinical and systemic issues seen primarily in the geriatric patient
2. Increase clinical armamentarium for treating xerostomia, root caries and tooth loss
3. Recognize when to alter the usual treatment plan to accommodate the frail elderly
