Dr. Crossley received a BS in pharmacy, MS and PhD degrees in pharmacology in 1972 and a DDS degree in 1980. He retired from the University of Maryland Dental School in 2004 as professor emeritus. He was the recipient of the 2008 Gordon Christensen Lecturer Recognition Award.

This presentation will provide current information on drug interactions, their mechanisms of action and alternative therapies. The newest recommendations for subacute bacterial endocarditis and orthopedic prostheses antibiotic prophylaxis will be discussed. The standard of care for pain management will also be discussed.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:1. Recognize potential adverse drug interactions and identify alternative therapies
2. State the current AHA and AAOS antibiotic prophylaxis recommendations
3. Identify the drug of choice, dosage, liability and adverse effects of analgesics
