Dr. Carl E. Misch is a clinical professor and director of oral implantology at Temple University School of Dentistry. He was the director of the Implant Residency Program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine from 1982 to 1990. He maintains a private practice in Michigan and Chicago.

The most common causes of implant complications are related to biomechanical factors. Early loading failures occur with greatest frequency in very soft bone (D4) or implants shorter than 10 mm long, especially when both factors are present.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:1. Identify the factors related to biomechanical stress
2. Relate biomechanical factors to the most common complications
3. Understand the cause and methods of biomechanical complications
