Description
No empirical research exists on the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, and Intersex (LGBTQQI) communities’ involvement in and motivation to be philanthropic. Philanthropy scholars, who research other marginalized groups, particularly communities of color and religious minorities, have found that these communities
approach and participate in philanthropy in different
ways than the majority community. This session will
examine the phenomenon of philanthropy within the LGBTQQI communities as it relates to their experiences and characteristics specifically within the context of giving to higher education.
