Randall Schaefer, CPIM, is an industrial philosopher and independent consultant. He is a veteran speaker at APICS events and other manufacturing-based organizations. Schaefer is editor of APICS magazine's Lessons Learned department and is a contributing author to the Society of Manufacturing Engineers' handbook, Material and Parts Handling in Manufacturing.

Steve A. Melnyk, Ph.D., CPIM, is Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at Michigan State University since 1980. Melnyk has co-authored 13 books, more than 60 refereed articles, and more than 300 general articles. He has spoken nationally and internationally on such topics as supply chain management, supply chain design, performance measurement, environmentally management systems, and process management. He also is on the editorial review board for three journals.
Description
Effective change management requires the support and involvement of top-level professionals and a solid plan. This session will introduce an six-step process that can dramatically increase a company’s chances of substantive change, help synchronize organizationwide efforts, and support accountability measures. You will understand the linkages that exist between change and the change-management process and learn how to bring about real and lasting results.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
1. Recognize that top management involvement, while important, is not enough.
2. Understand the linkages that exist between change (the outcome) and the change management process (the method by which the outcome is achieved).
3. Recognize and apply the six steps of an effective change management process to bring about successful and long-lasting change.
