Description
Climate change and sustainability are real issues that we are facing as people, and as businesses. Western society has a real challenge ahead of it to transform itself, as our cultures and our supply chains that function within our culture are not scalable to the rest of the world due to the climatic dilemma that they create. There are 3 steps in the evolution of a corporation in these terms… Environmental Regulatory Compliance, then Conservation, and then Sustainability. Most of the world and many companies are struggling with compliance while our challenge to address is Sustainability. Progressive companies have seen this and are on a journey to transform themselves into true sustainable operations. Transforming a supply chain needs specific skills and engagement to enable it to happen. Real transformation, and big change, can occur - and its profitable as well. It doesn’t drown a company but rather can propel it to perform with purpose. Frito Lay Canada is on such a journey and is now developing its path to true Sustainability - and has an impressive track record of conservation to build upon. The path forward is steep, but the stakes are high, as Supply chain professionals we have a real role to play in transforming how business is conducted in North America and modeling to the rest of the world our leadership in this arena.
