Description
Growing evidence demonstrates that the variables examined in a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) can predict morbidity and mortality in older patients with cancer, and uncover problems relevant to cancer care that would otherwise go unrecognized. This session would provide an overview of the health issues of the geriatric patient, review available assessment tools and suggest interventions that may improve outcomes for our patients. At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be able to do the following: 1. Define the needs of elderly patients. 2. Discuss the use and value of assessment tools. 3. Recognize the importance of early intervention to improve patient outcomes.
