Description
Healthcare organizations are frequently tasked to assess "community need." Nonprofits find themselves
defending their nonprofit status by proving community benefit. Take a closer look at how organizations
can assess community need and how to track and report community benefit. Identify the elements used
in measuring community need and the resources available. Discuss tracking community benefit, either
independently or by using the Lyons software promoted by the Catholic Health Association and VHA.
You will learn to:
1. Understand what a community needs assessment entails.
2. Show how data (at whatever level) contribute to the assessment process.
3. Explain the need to publish and promote transparent community benefit.
4. Demonstrate at least one way that community benefit information can be
gathered, reported, and used for community education.
