Ellen Bristol is manager of communications at Metro Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has spent the last 7 years of her distinguished 20 year career in health care marketing and communications. Her health care work has been recognized with several national awards. Currently she oversees corporate communications with special emphasis on media relations and special events management. Ellen holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Oakland University.

Jim Childress is a health care marketing pioneer, serving as vice president of marketing and public relations at Metro Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan since 1984. Metro Health consists of a 208-bed general acute care osteopathic teaching hospital and 12 neighborhood outpatient centers. The hospital has been rated a Thompson Top 100 Hospital for two consecutive years. A former broadcast journalist, Jim’s work in health care has been recognized with numerous national and state awards. He has served on numerous boards, including 17 years with the regions leading managed care organization. This year he was appointed by Michigan’s governor to the state’s Board of Nursing. He holds a masters degree in communications from Western Michigan University.
